Day 15

Day 15 – home group – Love intercedes

You cannot change the situations/people in your life, but you can pray for them. Prayer not only draws us closer to God, but is a powerful tool. The Bible says “ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Mathew 7:7

However, I think a lot of us think of prayer the same way little kids view Santa Claus – you go to God, ask for what you want and that’s it.
For this reason, many of us are not experiencing the true power of prayer.
Let’s look closer at prayer:
- Praying without knowing God through Jesus – John 14:6
- Praying from an unrepentant heart – Psalm 66:18-19
- Praying for show – Matthew 6:5
- Praying repetitive, empty words – Matthew 6:7-8
- Prayers not prayed – James 4:2
- Praying with a lustful heart – James 4:3
- Praying while ignoring the poor – Proverbs 21:13
- Praying with bitterness in your heart towards someone – Mark 11:25-26
- Praying with a faithless heart – James 1:6-8

Let us revolutionize the way we pray
ACTS – Adoration – spend the first part of your prayer just adoring the things you love about God.
Confession – Next, confess to the Lord your sins
Thanksgiving – Next, Thank the Lord for all the good things he has done in your life.
Supplication – At the end come before the Lord with your requests.

(Side note **** My husband thinks that it should be CATS because he thinks confessions should go first - food for thought)

Dare – Is there something holding you back from experiencing the true power of prayer in your life? Do whatever it takes to renew your relationship with God. Commit to pray using the ACTS model EVERYDAY. Expect God to answer your prayers according to His will.
