Love is Not Selfish

Selfishness is the exact opposite of love. To quote from the Love Dare book " We live in a world that is enamored with "self". The culture around us teaches us to focus on our appearence, feelings, and personal desires as the top priority. The goal, it seems, is to chase the highest level of happiness possible." However, who would want to be in a relationship with someone who only cared about their own desires? For this reason God desires for us to live according to Philippians 2:3:

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves."

In what ways do you act selfishly in your life? In what ways do you put others before yourself? In our quest to grow closer to God, pray that He will help reveal the areas in our lives ruled by selfish ambition and give us the strength to put others first as a sign of love.

Romans 12:10
"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."

James 3:16
"For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice."
