Love is not Rude
Proverbs 27:14
If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning,it will be taken as a curse.
Proverbs 25:24
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.
None of us are ever rude intentionally (I hope) , but often our actions or behaviors can come across as rude and therefore, unloving.
"There are two main reasons why people are rude: ignorance and selfishness. Neither, of course, is a good thing. A child is born ignorant of etiquette, needing lots of help and training. Adults, however, display their ignorance at another level. You know the rules, but you can be blind to how you break them or be too self-centered to care. In fact, you may not realize how unpleasant you can be to live with." Love Dare
Test yourself with these questions:
- How do others feel about the way you speak and act around them?
- How does your behavior affect others sense of worth and self-esteem?
- Would others say you're a blessing, or that you're condescending and embarassing?
In our quest to grow closer to God, lets evaluate the tone of our conversations and make sure that we are being intentional in treating everyone in a way that shows we value them.
Ecclesiastes 10:12
Words from a wise man's mouth are gracious, but a fool is consumed by his own lips.
Dare
Ask a person that is close to you (family or friends) if there's any way that you may come across as rude unintentionally. This dare is hard because no one wants to hear negative things about themselves, but it will be a true perspective into your life. Also don't shoot the messenger...you can't get angry at the answer to the question you asked!
